Curtis Corner Middle School is dedicated to providing a responsive education that meets the needs of young adolescents in personlized, small communities.
Teachers and students are team-based, meaning that a group of students share the same group of core teachers. Teachers meet collaboratively every day to share best practices and work together to reach mutually agreed upon goals.
There are apporximately 600 students that are divided into six teams:

Since 2004, Curtis Corner has consistently been classified by the RI Department of Education as a high performing school. Our high performance has also been recognized by Rhode Island's First Alliance.
Curriculum
Core Subjects: Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts (including Reading, PE, Health, and Media Literacy)
Unified Arts: Band, Orchestra, Chorus, Art, Computer Literacy, Family & Consumer Science, Fitness, World Language, and Contemporary Health Issues.
Student Recognitions: quarterly academic assemblies, team “students of the month,” and National Junior Honor Society.

School Improvement Goals
Goal One: Students will be able to show relationships with tables, graphs and other visual representations and interpret and explain their meaning verbally and through writing across the curriculum according to state GLE’s in math, writing and reading.
Goal Two: Students will be able to select from a variety of problem solving strategies across the curriculum and be able to solve problems and justify the solutions verbally and through writing.
Goal Three: Students will be able to analyze and interpret text and make connections through the use of various reading strategies across the curriculum.
Goal Four: Students will be able to develop academically, socially, emotionally and physically through school-wide reforms and policies that support a personalized learning community.
Curtis Corner is approximately two miles from the University of Rhode Island. As a result, we enjoy an enriching partnership with university staff and students.
We are located in Wakefield, an Atlantic seacoast town with an area of 63 square miles and a population of 28,000.
