Computer Literacy Curriculum

note: components of this curriculum are taught at both grade levels depending on student readiness and time allowed.


Network Navigation

Students learn to access and utilize school network resources such as shared printers, folders and drives, as well as their own network storage.

Operating System Orientation

Students learn about and utilize Microsoft Windows 7 Professional.

File Management

Students learn to create folders and files and how to move, save and find them again on various storage mediums.

Office Productivity Skills

Students are introduced to the most widely used office productivity tools including: word processing, multimedia presentations, spreadsheets and desktop publishing software.

Hardware System Components

Students are introduced to the desktop computer's basic system components.


7th Grade students are introduced to the QWERTY keyboarding system and work towards becoming full keyboard touch typists.

The Internet

Students are introduced to the use of web browsers, search engines, e-mail and forum software.  Students are also introduced to Internet safety and netequitte tips.

Digital Photography

Students are introduced to the digital camera, scanner and photo editing software.
