Math with Mrs. Harrington
Welcome back to the Defender Team and thank-you for taking the time
to review my policies. I am looking forward to an exciting and learning-filled

with a greater emphasis on solving problems algebraically. :) If you have any

The following are my classroom policies so you and your child know what I expect.
Your grade is determined as follows:
A) Tests, quizzes, projects and presentations : (80%)
There will usually be a quiz or test given every week. They
will be announced in advance. The day before a test, we will
do some type of review activity in class. On all problems,
you must show your work to get credit for an answer.
B) Homework : (20%)
The only way to learn and re-enforce math concepts is to practice.
Since there is a direct correlation between quality homework and
test grades, homework is extremely important. You cannot do well in
this class if you don’t commit yourself to doing your homework
every day! Homework is assigned almost every day and is due the
next day. Homework can be shown to me up to one day late for half
credit.
Class Participation and Behavior
Your participation and respectful behavior are vital to creating a positive
learning environment. Students are expected to participate in class
(answering and asking questions) and be prepared (homework completed,
pencil, math notebook and planner) and be respectful to eachother and
the teacher. There is no tolerance for disrespectful classroom behavior.
Required Supplies: (to be brought to class every day)
- A 5 subject spiral notebook (this notebook is to be used only for math).
- A soft pencil case which should contain pencils (all math is to be done in pencil), a
block eraser, 2 red pens for correcting, and a package of low odor whiteboard markers.
(In order to better prepare students for high school math and the NECAP exam, we
will not be using calculators for math this year). Please help your child review their
multiplication tables at home.
Extra Help:
I am available after school on Wednesdays from 2-3 o'clock for extra help with math.
Students should let me know in advance that they would like to stay after school for
extra help. Please encourage your child to see me if they need help! :) Also,
tutorials, extra practice and fun math games.
Attendance:
Your attendance in class every day is extremely important. However, if
you do miss a class, it is your responsibility to copy notes from another
student and complete the homework assignment. All work missed due to
absence must be made up in a reasonable time (within five days).
