Mr. Nelson’s Mission Statement
My mission is to make a positive impact on each of my student’s lives. I will help my students become life long learners and to appreciate the value of an education. My mission as a teacher is to have each student reach their full academic potential and develop self-confidence in their abilities. I will establish high expectations for my students in the areas of academics and behavior and will hold them accountable for their actions. I will treat each student with respect and expect the same in return. I will believe that each student can learn and become a successful member of society.
Additional Goals
- To prepare each student for the next grade level and beyond.
- To have students realize the importance of learning mathematics. (Why do we have to learn this????)
- To teach lessons that are interesting and educational
- To take the fear our of mathematics
- To be the absolute best math teacher that I can be for each student
Grading
Each assignment is given a point value
- Homework assignments are normally worth between 10-25 points
- Quizzes (50-100 pts)
- Tests (200 pts)
- Midterm exam (300 pts –)
- Final exam (300 pts –)
- Extra Help!
- Extra helps is always available when possible. It is your responsibility to seek it if you feel you need a little extra help. A typical extra help session lasts between 15-30 minutes.
