7th Grade - Social Studies

The social studies curriculum is designed to correlate with the National Council for Social Studies (NCSS) and includes the strands of history, civics, government, geography, economics, and culture.

7th grade: Students will study the history of the United States to 1877.

First Quarter      

Students will study the major events preceding the founding of our nation, relating their significance to the development of American democracy, and the causes of the American Revolution.Other topics include:

*The Confederation and Constitution
*Citizenship
*The Jefferson Era
*Lewis and Clarke
*Industrialization
                                
Materials needed:  3-ringer binder - 1"
                             2 pocket folder
                             highlighter / post-it notes
                   loose leaf paper
                   pen/pencil
                             colored pencils - for homework
